Social Studies

We have some great Social Studies units to cover this year, but perhaps, the most important is about Citizenship and being a part of both a caring classroom and school community. Building that sense of community is how we will begin our school year.

Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is an important part of Coventry Village School. All of our students and staff practice the 3Rs: Respect, Responsibility and Readiness to Learn each and every day. When we are "caught" demonstrating these behaviors consistently, Pom Poms awarded to recognize that positive behavior. These Pom Poms get added to our classroom container and when it is filled we have a celebration! We empty our filled container into the school-wide container. When the whole school has filled the big container, we will have a whole school celebration!

Kids who are recognized for our weekly Python Pride for demonstrating the 3Rs or kids who have not had any behavior infractions for the week will be in the running for a weekly drawing of a Python Prize Pack filled with lots of cool stuff!

Here is our classroom behavior rubric. All of these expectations (and any other important ones not shown here) are explicitly taught, modeled and practiced with kids. Ask your child in the first weeks of school to tell you about the rubric and about some ways that he/she has modeled these behaviors in the classroom.
